As much as I would want to go in-depth in this description, I'm free to answer any questions from anyone that reaches out to me with the contact form. Definitely ask me anything that you may be confused about!

Paper Cranes

#1 [2018, Pen and Digital, 9x12] Originally I had folded a paper crane and only drew one perspective. I took inspiration from when I used to make hanging paper cranes as decorative pieces. I ended up drawing several other perspectives and chose these three cranes to construct digitally and to also color in after the line work.

Life in Wonderland

#2 [2019, Gouache and Cut Paper Collage, 9x12] One of my first pieces experimenting with gouache while also testing my skills in storytelling and cut paper collage. There are hidden themes of curiosity, development, and identity. It's a visual that I made to encompass my progression from childhood through adolescence.

Paper Planes

#3 [2018, Pen and Digital, 9x12] This piece also studied different perspectives of a paper airplane. In this piece, I planned on experimenting with line quality and ended up painting in colors digitally to give the illusion of the layering clouds.

Beeutiful

#4 [2019, Pencil, 9x12] This was a study on proportions and image manipulation. I also wanted to play around with cross-hatching and the illusion of depth which can be found most effectively on the hand and in the honeycomb detailing. The idea was a narrative on the hollowness and the search for validity in a person.

3 Creature Thumbnails

#5 [2019, Digital, 9x12] This piece was more creatively made seeing as I combined three animals and their features. It includes an aardvark, otter, and raccoon. This was the first piece that I had drafted digitally using Procreate.

3 Creature Combination

#6 This is the result of my sketch of the three creature combination. I think it came out to be cute in its own unique way. I enjoyed applying texture to the body itself but also gold leafing for the first time in this piece.

Bongo

#7

Thoughts

#8 This is a woodblock printed piece I had drawn and laser-cut. I ended up printing five layers of color and used cool tones which provided a small narrative beside the flower as a symbol of avoided judgment.

Duiker

#9

Waves

#10 [2019, Acrylic and Pen, 12x9] I wanted to try and loosen up my hand and art style to practice being less of a perfectionist when it comes to the planning stages.

Apple Blossom

#11 This was a 1-hour observational drawing.

Vessel

#12 [2019, Pencil, 12x9] I really love this piece compositionally and I really enjoyed taking my time to playfully work in effective eye movement.

Fiery Monarch

#13 [2019, Digital, 12x9] This was an illustrative narrative representing a story that was covered in an LA Times paper on forest fires breaking out in the Northridge area.

Bloom

#14 [2018, Digital & Watercolor, 9x12] I wanted to play with different opacities and photoshop editing. I started with a wet marker background and digitally drew the blooming process of a peony. I added in lines for a source of eye movement and also used an analogous color scheme for both the background and the peonies/line work.

Tigerlily

#15 [2019, Pencil, 12x9] I wanted to practice drawing from observation with more detail. Here I included a lot of line quality and light/shading to make the baby tiger more realistic. I also gold-leafed outlines of lilies that can be found in their natural habitat.

Yes Beautiful Soul

#16 [2018, Digital, 7x7] This was originally a logo design for a perfume company that I had mocked up. I loved the layering and the composition because it further gave the piece more interest by the illusion of the flower coating with the lettering.

Mountains

#17 [2018, Pen and Digital, 12x9] I wanted to create a semi-abstract piece that explored different textures. Here I lightly drew the outlines of mountains and drew a different pattern or texture in each one. The colors and the boxes are parts of isolation where I wanted to experiment with negative space.
